Allison Wells is a recently returned native of Santa Barbara, California, whose contemporary paintings have sold to residents and professionals in numerous states. Her paintings reflect her captivation with the shapes and patterns found in nature. Her work has been influenced by the early California landscape artists and members of the preservationist Oaks Group, although she chooses to work bold and bright, leaning toward modern. While the staple of her portfolio are landscapes, she also paints environmental abstracts and media coverings.
In the Santa Barbara area, Wells exhibits in various galleries and shows in conjunction with her art affiliations. Some are juried shows and others are charity related exhibits. While living in Colorado, she was selected for several solo exhibits, including Eagle County Airport, and she was the only Vail Valley artist invited to join nationwide award winning artists juried into the Beaver Creek Arts Festival. However, she paints for the pleasure of the creative experience and in the pursuit of personal enlightenment.

For me, painting is an act of total absorption, engaging the mind and the heart. I plunge into a work much the way an author climbs into the alter ego of a persona in order to give a character life and breath. The act is a way to express self while simultaneously living on a visionary plane, and in both an experimental way and a studied way, an attempt to distill a poignant experience, moment, or sight.
